Phyllis ‘Arlene’ Clawson – Services 1/28/25

Phyllis “Arlene” Clawson, 87 of New Boston, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at Brookstone of Aledo, surrounded by family. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, at the New Boston United Methodist Church. The funeral service will directly follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the New Boston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to the New Boston United Methodist Church. The Dennison Funeral Home in Aledo is handling the arrangements. Arlene was born on February 2, 1937, the daughter of Norman and Vantana Hill Willits. She graduated from New Boston High School with the Class of 1955. On February 16, 1957, she married the love of her life Charles “Chink” Clawson in New Boston. They were married for almost 65 years before his passing on February 10, 2022.

She was a member of the New Boston United Methodist Church, the Birthday Card Club, and the New Boston Sluggers Softball team. Arlene was an avid BINGO and card player. You could also find her cheering for the Cubs and Fighting Illini. Most of all, she was a proud grandmother, whom always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Brenda (Joe) Junis of New Boston, Tammy (Tony) Lane of New Boston, and Kenny (Lisa) Clawson of Aledo; grandchildren, Wyatt (Brandy) Junis, Tyler (Hilary) Junis, Brandon (Kelly) Lane, Erin (Brian) Kelchen, Kristi (Ben) Keller, Erica (Jake) Hajny, Shannon (Malcolm) Cagle, and Damian Martinez; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat Huston of New Boston, Shirley Sedam of New Boston, and Sue (Dave) Darling of Cordova; sister-in-law, Doris Saunders of Sun City West, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chink” Clawson; parents, Norman and Vantana Willits; sister, Norma Jean Laughlin; and brother, Jack Willits.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookstone of Aledo for all of the wonderful care Arlene received over the past 3 years.
