Florence J. Fullerton, 97 of Viola, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Generations in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, November 29, at Viola Cemetery. Florence was born on June 5, 1927, to Ralph and Jennie (Robbins) Emerson. She married Donald Lemon on February 26, 1944. She later married Russell “Hap” Fullerton on January 8, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He passed away on May 17, 1993. Florence was employed as a Nurse Aide and later a ward clerk at the Mercer County Hospital and retired in 1981 after 26 years. She was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church and the Viola Legion Auxiliary.
Those left to cherish Florence’s memory include her daughter, Barbara (Gary) Kernan Powell of Milan, Illinois; step-son, Troy (Franci) Fullerton of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jeff (Angie) Kernan of West Des Moines, Iowa, Jared (Kellie) Kernan of Viola, Illinois, and Michelle (Rick) Masters of Burlington, Iowa; one step grandchild, Hannah of Oklahoma; six great grandchildren, Maggie Kernan and Jacob Kernan both of Viola, Kayla Kernan of Van Meter, Iowa, Cole Kernan of West Des Moines, Bret Masters of Burlington, and Colin Masters of Arizona; one sister, Margaret Aubrey of Galesburg, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; one son, William Lemon; three sisters, Irene Hughes, Grace Lee, and Louise Murk; and one brother, George Emerson.
