Betty J. Williams – Services 10/4/24

Betty J. Williams, 101 of Aledo, Illinois, died Monday, September 23, 2024, at Brookstone of Aledo. The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 4, at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is an hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the First Baptist Church in Aledo. Betty was born March 5, 1923, in Perryton Township, Mercer County, Illinois, to Clyde and Edna Pollock Wood. She graduated from Reynolds High School. Betty married Willard “Bill” Williams on December 18, 1941, in Aledo.

She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm. She was a proofreader for the Aledo Times Record, retiring in 1997.

Betty was a member of Enon Baptist Church on Ridge Road in Perryton Township for many years and the First Baptist Church in Aledo where she served in many different capacities including hospitality chairman and nursery attendant for over 45 years. She was involved with the Mercer County Red Cross Blood Drive and served in the Floral Hall at the Mercer County Fair. Betty enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and bingo.

Survivors include her two daughters, Catherine (Leonard) McNall of Mandan, North Dakota, and Pamela (Michael) Muehling of East Moline, Illinois; one son, John (Barbara) Williams of Evansville, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, parents, four sisters, and two brothers preceded her in death.
