The Rock Island County Fair 4-H Livestock Auction was held Friday with 46 4-H members auctioning their animals and $29,350 brought in from local business and families who made up the pool of bidders.
The grand champion steer shown by Macy Hoag went for $800 and was purchased by Kalona Sales Barn. The grand champion wether goat shown by Henry Edwards went for $350 and was purchased by State Representative Dan Swanson. The grand champion dairy goat shown by Shay Brinson went for $300 to Hoag Diesel Repair. The grand champion sheep shown by Keeghan Bohnsack went for $1,025 and was purchased by Fairview Sale Barn. The grand champion market barrow shown by Olivia Freyermuth went for $1,500 and was purchased by Nutrien Ag Solutions.
The grand champion in the dairy division is Cassie Bohnert taking in $2,000 from Compeer Financial, Ahlem Farms, and Vita Plus. The grand champion in the poultry division was Baily Callahan, went for $400 and was purchased by Aledo Vet Clinic, Charlie’s Tax Service, and County Line Ag.
