Teresa “Terry” Lynne Dillie, 59 of Joy, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 11, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo, Illinois. The funeral service will directly follow at 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be left to the family for a charity to be designated at a later date. Terry was born November 23, 1964, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Nancy (Stirn) Sloan. She graduated from Aledo High School with the class of 1982 and later received her Associates degree from Blackhawk College. Terry married Ernest “Ernie” Dillie, Jr., on April 25, 1987, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Aledo.
Terry worked for many years as a paraprofessional for the Mercer County Junior High School and served as a bus monitor for the school district. She was very active in her community; volunteering and supporting her kids through 4-H, school boosters, and being their biggest cheerleader at sporting and school events. Terry loved crafting, baking, canning, and spending time with her good friends and family around the campfire. She will be remembered for being a good listener and always offering a helping hand whenever she could.
Terry is survived by her husband, Ernest “Ernie” Dillie, Jr., of Joy; daughter, Meghan (Jake) Gerritsen of Summerville, South Carolina; son, Otto (Kayla) Dillie of Moline, Illinois; five siblings, Betty (Butch) Ray of Kansas, Bill (Lisa) Sloan of Illinois, LuAnn (John) Burroughs of Texas, Tammy (Rick) Wood of Missouri, and Tim (Chris) Sloan of Louisiana; many special nieces and nephews; two special friends, Wendy Bush and Jodi O’Leary; and two grand puppies, Marley and Maverick.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
