The bass fishing coach at Mercer County High School pleased to see the IHSA locate a bass fishing sectional in the area this spring. Mississippi River—Pool 18 will serve as a site on May 2 with the boat ramp at the New Boston waterfront. Aaron Heartt says it’s a perfect spot for the competition.

Mercer County’s bass fishing tradition runs prior to consolidation with Aledo and Westmer fielding teams when the IHSA first created the state series in 2009.
