A downtown Aledo building is coming down. The Aledo City Council learned Monday night that the former Headquarters & Alley Outback Spa storefront will be demolished. The structure was declared structurally unsound last year.
Also Monday night, aldermen scheduled a Public Property Committee meeting for later this month and among the discussion items, a traffic signal on Illinois Route 17 near Joe’s Trattoria and Circle K.
The council also learned that the Aledo Police Department could eventually take over staffing the school resource officer position at Mercer County High School. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department has been handling those duties.
