The top-ranked 2A boys basketball team in the state suffered a loss at the Great Western Shootout in Abingdon Saturday, as Illini Bluffs (10-2) defeated Rockridge (8-2), 56-41.
The Rockets held an 18-15 lead at halftime, but were outscored 41-23 in the second half.
Illini Bluffs was led in scoring by Toby Copper with 18 points. Hank Alvey added 11 points in the win.
Landon Bull was the only Rockridge player in double figures with 11.
Sherrard (7-1) never trailed in a 52-33 win over Farmington (5-4) Saturday in Abingdon.
The Tigers forced 17 Farmington turnovers in the first half and led 22-10 at halftime.
Sherrard’s Holland Anderson led all scorers with 12 points.
