Monte D. Sackville, 66 of Aledo, died November 1, 2023, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 10, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, rural Aledo. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at the Mercer County VFW beginning at 12 p.m. after the burial. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Monte Dean was born on May 20, 1957, in Aledo, Illinois, to Jimmy L. and Patricia L. (Frerkes) Sackville. He was a 1975 graduate of Aledo High School. Monte and Tracy Vipond were married on May 22, 1993, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.
Monte was a member of Laborers Local Union #309 and OPCMIA Local 18 as a concrete specialist. He enjoyed the outdoors and all it had to offer, hunting, target shooting, cruising with his dogs (Benny and Scottie), and especially spending time with his family. Monte also enjoyed reading up on historical events, John Wayne, Elvis, Marty Robbins, and the Minnesota Vikings. He loved to work on tractors, especially his John Deere 730.
Those left to cherish Monte’s memory include his wife, Tracy; children, Jessica and Bayley Sackville and Traven Vipond; his mother, Patty Sackville; and siblings and spouses, Randy and Sherie Sackville, Laurie and Joe Lower, Todd Sackville and Jana Ragsdale, and Jim and Mary Beth Sackville, all of Aledo. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Monte was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Sackville, and sister in infancy, Shannon Rose.
