This Saturday is an important anniversary for New Boston. On Sept. 30 in 1834, Abraham Lincoln finished surveying and platting the town. Christian McWhirter is a Lincoln Historian with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.
Lincoln was also in Mercer County at the onset of the Black Hawk War in 1832, serving as a company captain of the Illinois Militia.
