Mercer County (2-1, 1-0 LLC Big) opened conference play in the Lincoln Land Conference Big School Division with a 47-0 win over LVC (0-3, 0-1 LLC Big) Friday. The Golden Eagles scored all 47 points in the first half. Tannen Whitehall carried the ball 11 times for 196 yards and four touchdowns for Mercer County. The Golden Eagles host Farmington (3-0, 2-0 LLC Big) in Week 4.
Rockridge (2-1, 1-0 TRAC West) won their conference opener, defeating Riverdale (0-3, 0-1 TRAC West), 61-14, Friday. Rockridge quarterback Cullen Schwigen accounted for three touchdowns in the win.
Sherrard (1-2) earned their first win of 2023 with a 24-15 win at Warrensburg-Latham (1-2) Friday. The Tigers put the game away with 4:02 remaining in the fourth quarter when Holland Anderson connected with Carter Brown for a touchdown to put Sherrard up two scores. Sherrard takes on Rockridge at home in Week 4.
Orion (2-1, 0-1 TRAC West) suffered their first loss of the season to Morrison (3-0, 1-0 TRAC West), 40-14, Friday. The Chargers held a 7-6 lead early in the second quarter, but the Mustangs answered by scoring 34 unanswered points. Kale Filler was 17 of 30 for 133 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Morrison rushed for 284 yards in the win.
