A banner day in the show ring for a Mercer County middle schooler. Eleven-year-old Colt Roeder won reserve grand champion honors at the Illinois State Fair with his purebred Simmental heifer, named Sadie, who was also selected Land of Lincoln grand champion heifer. Land of Lincoln honors go to animals born and raised in Illinois. Over 500 heifers entered the state fair junior show. Sadie was born in Feb. 2022.
Colt will be entering the 6th grade at Mercer County Junior High next week.
