Mark William Dunn, 60 of Aledo, died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, in Ontario, Canada, while on a fishing trip with family and friends. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, at the Aledo United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Aledo United Methodist Church, the Mercer County FFA, or the Mercer County Bass Fishing Team.
Mark was born on May 30, 1963, in Aledo, Illinois, to Robert W. and Kathryn M. (Wagner) Dunn. He married Brenda Retherford on September 24, 1983, in Joy, Illinois.
Mark was a grain and livestock farmer, living his whole life in Ohio Grove Township. He dedicated his life to the land and enjoyed being outside, not only for work, but for play. Mark loved hunting and fishing and going to any sporting event his children and now his grandchildren were involved in. He enjoyed time spent with his family, his friends (often through the truck window on a gravel road), but especially with his grandchildren. Mark was an avid Green Bay Packer and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was currently an Ohio Grove Township Trustee and Multi Township Assessor and could be found helping with any other numerous organizations in the county.
Those left to cherish Mark’s memory include his wife: Brenda; children and spouses: Trevon and Sara Dunn, Alexa and Lucas Knox, and Tanner and Lindsey Dunn; grandchildren: Tatum, Haven, Raelynn, Kallen, and Lainey; siblings: Cindy and Rick Leever and Carol and Brian Parchert; sister-in-law: Isabella Dunn; step-siblings: Steve and Tami Tisor; and in-laws, Bill and Doris Retherford.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother: Helen Tisor Dunn; brother: Michael Dunn; and son: Tyson Dunn.
