The IHSA evaluating the state finals weekend schedule for both boys and girls basketball. Most are happy with the current Saturday set-up, with the four state championship games played on that day. However, there continues to be pushback on having third place games played Thursday and Friday nights. IHSA boys basketball administrator Kurt Gibson says the organization is looking for solutions—like maybe adding a day to the tourney or redistributing games on Thursday and Friday, but nothing is final.
Both the State Farm Center in Champaign and CEFCU Arena in Normal have one year remaining on their three-year tournament host contracts.
