Rockets Rally from Nine Down to Keep Record Streak Alive

Rockridge (7-0) erased a nine-run deficit to come from behind and defeat Sherrard (4-3) 29-23 in softball Monday.

The Tigers scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and the Rockets responded with eight in the bottom of the first. Sherrard reclaimed the lead 15-8 at the end of the second inning. Sherrard led 18-9 entering the bottom of the fourth inning. Rockridge rallied to score 20 runs over their final three innings at the plate.

There were nine home runs hit in the game. For Rockridge, Payton Brown went deep twice, Taylor Dietrich hit two homers, and Daytona Downing and Kendra Lewis left the yard as well. Nadia Anderson, Ava Hartman and Teagan Nees hit home runs for Sherrard in the loss.

With the win, Rockridge extended their IHSA record winning streak to 72.
