A second person arrested in an ongoing grooming and sexual assault investigation. According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release, 52-year-old Jeffrey Smith was arrested on a Mercer County warrant Monday at the Johnson County, Iowa Jail. He is charged with seven felony counts—including criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, grooming, and exploitation of a child. Bond has been set at $400,000. A preliminary hearing is set for April 18.
Smith’s arrest is part of an ongoing investigation involving co-defendant Jennifer Younge. She is due back in court Tuesday.
