The disorderly conduct case against Viola Police Chief Troy Brock has been continued to later this spring. He appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court Monday morning for a pre-trial conference with the matter moved to May 16. The delay was attributed to the defense. A special prosecutor is handling the case for the Mercer County State’s Attorney’s office.
According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release in late November, the sheriff’s office “received a request from the Aledo Police Department to investigate a complaint of possible disorderly conduct that had occurred at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.
The Mercer County State’s Attorney’s Office, after reviewing the investigation, charged Brock with six misdemeanor counts in December.
Viola Village President Mike Lester released a statement to WRMJ after the charges were filed. It stated, “With this being an active investigation, we will not comment on Chief Brock’s status. If/when a decision needs to be made, we will consult our attorney as to how to proceed. Until that time comes, there will be no comment on this matter.”
