2012 state championship quarterback Tanner Matlick has been named new head football coach at Mercer County High School. The Monmouth College grad was hired Wednesday night by the Unit 404 Board of Education. He replaces Andrew Hofer, who is taking a job with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the end of the school year. Matlick is employed by Aledo’s General Grind and Machine.
Other hires approved by the Unit 404 Board of Education Wednesday night; Brandy Dornon, assistant high school principal. She is currently with the Galesburg School District. Former Apollo teacher Chad Robertson has been hired as Apollo principal, replacing the retiring Bill Fleuette. Current Mercer County High School teacher Dustin Murray will be the new athletic director and Lexi Strange is the Golden Eagles new varsity volleyball coach.
