Details announced for the Memorial Day observance in Aledo. Jay Doherty is with Aledo American Legion Post 121.
Memorial Day services at Eliza Creek Cemetery will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 30. Services will be held under a tent on the cemetery lawn. There will be some seating but it is recommended to bring a lawn chair if possible. The speaker for the services will be Joe Hunt, Pastor of the Joy Baptist Church. Decorating of the Veterans’ graves will follow the service.
Memorial Day Services at Peniel Cemetery, rural Joy, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 30. The speaker will be Pastor Matthew Downey. Those attending are asked to bring flowers to decorate veterans’ graves.
And the Drury-Reynolds Cemetery Memorial Day Service will be at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 29. The guest speaker is Richard “Dick” Nash.
