Working In Public Health During Pandemic; A Few Words From Mercer County Health Department’s Jen Hamerlinck

What’s it been like working in the Mercer County Health Department the past year? The pandemic has created many challenges and the agency’s Jen Hamerlinck says the staff continues to plow forward.
The health department has generated plenty of discussion on social media this week in the aftermath of a parent sponsored prom which resulted in an adaptive pause for Mercer County High School because of a positive COVID case. Hamerlinck was asked about that during a segment on the WRMJ Focus program Wednesday morning and also how the staff has been dealing with the pressures of the ongoing pandemic.

There have been 78 positive COVID cases in Mercer County since April 1. Hamerlinck says 23-percent of those are persons under 18.
