Mercer County authorities believe the man labeled as “Mercer County’s best meth cook” is down south.
That’s Mercer County Sheriff Dave Staley. A $100,000 arrest warrant was issued for 23 year old Charles Peacock last March after he failed to appear for a hearing in Mercer County Circuit Court on a petition to revoke his probation. He had been free on a $50,000 recognizance bond. Peacock was placed on four years’ probation in May of 2016 for violating the terms of his probation in a 2015 meth manufacturing case. The Andalusia man was originally placed on three years’ probation for the Class 1 felony in February of 2016, but violated the conditions by visiting the co-defendant in the case and also failing to complete a drug evaluation. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee had indicated previously she is seeking up to 12-years in prison for Peacock.
