A Milan man remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail following a drug induced death investigation in rural Sherrard.
41-year-old William DeWitt appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court Monday for a pre-trial conference with the matter continued to July 22. The delay was attributed to the defense.
DeWitt was taken into custody last month. He is facing First Degree Murder and Drug Induced Homicide counts stemming from the Dec. 22 death of Anthony Qualls. DeWitt has pleaded not guilty to both charges and remains in the Mercer County Jail.
A co-defendant in the case, 52-year-old Susan McFalls of Colona, who is out of police custody, will be back in court June 17. McFalls is charged with 1st Degree Murder (accountability) and Drug Induced Homicide (accountability).
