The Mercer County Zoning Board has moved the Hawthorn Ridge rezoning issue to next month, but is receptive to an R-3 or residential zoning designation instead of C-1 commercial. An R-3 designation would allow for a campground at the site per Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson.
Owner Mark Bieri is seeking the rezoning. The next zoning board meeting is Jan. 21.
Also last night, the zoning board approved a zoning change for property owned by Kenneth and Lorraine Kinsey, west of Viola. They are planning a Go Kart track for the parcel, with hopes of opening in the spring.
