The Mercer County Youth Livestock Auction celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Mercer County Fair Friday Night. After a short weather delay, a large crowd turned out for the event.
The grand champion steer shown by Jack Jungmann sold for $3.10 a pound and was purchased by Friends of 4-H. The grand champion pen of rabbits shown by Chloe Stevenson went for $375 and was purchased by Stu Adams Club Lambs. The grand champion barrow shown by Reagan Shike went for $4.00 a pound and was purchased by Diamond Ag. The grand champion poultry shown by Jacob Kenney went for $375 and was purchased by Blackhawk Bank & Trust. The grand champion market lamb shown by Macy DeBlock went for $7.75 a pound and was bought by County Line Seed, Compeer Financial, Franck Family Farms, and BK Magnowave. The grand champion goat was shown by Reese Marlow and it went for $6.00 a pound and was purchased by local breeders, Wayne Franck Memorial, and Stan Gregory Memorial.
This year’s sale grossed $62,500.
