Rockridge (35-1) beat Tremont (18-8), 12-2, to win the IHSA 2A Rockridge Sectional championship Friday.
The Rockets struck first with three runs in the top of the first inning. Tremont responded with two runs in the second to cut the lead to 3-2.
Payton Brown and Taylor Dietrich hit solo home runs in the third to push Rockridge’s lead to 5-2. The Rockets added five more runs in the fourth inning on a Kendra Lewis grand slam and Kori Needham solo homer.
Lewis (22-0) was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on two hits in five innings. Lewis is now 60-0 for her career at Rockridge.
The Rockets advance to the Super-Sectional at Eastside Centre in East Peoria. Rockridge will play Rock Falls Monday at 1 p.m. Rock Falls beat Marengo, 8-2, Friday.
