Rockridge’s Locke Sprints To 100-Meter State Title

Rockridge senior Peyton Locke won the 100 meter dash at the Class 1A State Track Meet in Charleston on Saturday. Locke came in as the number three seed after the prelims on Thursday but he turned in his best time of 10.86 to capture the title. Locke followed that up with a second place finish in the 200 with a time of 21.76 and was a member of the Rockets sixth place 4 X 200 meter relay team. Rockridge finished 6th as a team.

Mercer County’s Chase Olson turned in a seventh place performance in the triple jump with a leap of 43’6.

On the baseball diamond, the Sherrard Tigers could not make an early lead hold up as they fell to the Hall Red Devils in the Class 2A Knoxville Sectional championship game.  The Tigers lead 7-3 with one out in the sixth but gave up seven runs in the inning on their way to a 12-7 loss. Sherrard closes out the season with a 25-7 record.
