WRMJ Audio: Highlights, Postgame Reaction From Rockridge’s Fifth Consecutive Super-Sectional Win

Rockridge (36-1) will return to the IHSA State Finals for the fifth year in a row after defeating Rock Falls (29-6), 14-2, Monday to win the IHSA 2A East Peoria Super-Sectional.

Rock Falls scored a run in the top of the first. Rockridge answered with two in the bottom of the inning and then with six in the bottom of the second. Rockridge added four runs in the third and two more in the fourth. Kendra Lewis was 4-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Cierra Bush and Mikaylin Hofer both drove in three.

Lewis (23-0) was the winning pitcher. She allowed two runs on four hits in five innings. Lewis finished with three strikeouts.

The Rockets will play Friday at 5:30 p.m., in Peoria in the state semi-finals against St. Anthony (24-3). The Bulldogs beat Quincy Notre Dame, 7-6, Monday.
