Update In Sherrard Woman’s Animal Cruelty Case; October Pre-Trial Scheduled

An Oct. 16 pre-trial set in a Sherrard woman’s animal cruelty case. The date scheduled Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court for 59-year-old Karen Plambeck, where the court ruled on a discovery issue.
Plambeck is facing twelve animal cruelty charges stemming from an August 2022 investigation where 198 dogs were rescued from her property. She is also charged with a felony of unlawful communication with a witness in connection with the animal cruelty case.
All 198 dogs were forfeited to the care of Mercer County Animal Control. Over $170,000 worth of veterinary and boarding costs were introduced as evidence in a court hearing last September.
Plambeck posted bond in both the animal cruelty and unlawful communication of a witness case. She has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
