Mendota (23-2-1) broke a 1-1 tie with 56 seconds remaining to win a 1A sectional championship 2-1 over Peoria Christian (22-3-2) in Chillicothe Wednesday.
Cesar Cases found the back of the net in the final minute to put the Trojans ahead. Sebastian Carlos also scored for Mendota in the win.
The Trojans will return home to host Aurora Central Catholic (18-3-2) in the super-sectional Saturday.
