The Sherrard Tigers went on the road Saturday to Peru and topped the St. Bede Bruins 42-18 to pick up their first victory of the season. Josh Bynum had three touchdowns for the Tigers as Sherrard scored on all their second half possesions.
In volleyball, Orion defeated Mercer County in the championship match to win the Judy Richmond Invitational in Aledo. The Charges won in straight games, 25-12, 25-12. Orion topped Mercer County in the championship match at the Wethersfield Invitational earlier this month. The Golden Eagles Karli Stineman was named to the all-tournament team.
In cross country, at the Dale Donner Invitational hosted by Bureau Valley, Elmwood-Brimfield won the boys title. Sherrard finished 7th, Ridgewood 14th, Mercer County 15th, Orion 16th and Rockridge 20th. In the girls race, Rock Falls won the title. Orion finished 10th, Mercer County 16th and Rockridge 17th.
