Three Suspects Arrested After Burglary At Oquawka Bar

OQUAWKA, IL – A late-night burglary at DC’s Bar/Tavern in Oquawka led to the arrest of three individuals early Wednesday morning, according to local authorities.

The Hancock/Henderson 911 dispatch center received a call at approximately 2:56 a.m. on February 5, 2025, reporting a burglary in progress. The caller stated that three unknown individuals had broken into the bar, stolen items, and fled the scene in a white SUV.

A sheriff’s deputy on patrol quickly located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop with assistance from Des Moines County, IA, sheriff’s deputies. Three individuals were taken into custody at the scene.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed stolen items from the tavern, confirming the connection to the burglary.

The suspects were identified as Dayton M. Murray, 19, of Burlington, IA, along with two female juveniles—one from Carman, IL, and another from Oquawka, IL. All three have been charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, theft, and possession of alcohol by a minor. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
