That black bear that made its way through Mercer County over the weekend is still on the move. And the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is advising people to keep their distance, but that hasn’t been easy. A recent incident in Henderson County caused alarm with conservation officers, including Captain Laura Petreikis.
Biologists believe the bear is likely looking for a mate. IDNR staff have been tracking the bear since he entered the state in Jo Davies County in northwest Illinois. The animal roamed through Keithsburg Saturday night.
