T. Thomas Peterson, 71 of rural Aledo, Illinois died Monday, October 10, 2022 at Genesis Illini, Silvis. Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 15, at Mercer County V.F.W. in Aledo, Illinois. Memorials may be left for the V.F.W. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.
Theodore Thomas Peterson was born December 19, 1950 in Moline, Illinois a son of Clifford and Margaret Spivey Peterson. Tom was a 1969 graduate of Westmer High School. On July 14, 1984 he married Mary Ellen Dixon, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Elaine Nelson Dixon. Over the years, Tom had worked at F.S. in Aledo, International Harvester in East Moline, and the East Moline Correctional Facility from where he retired. Tom and Mary are members of College Avenue Presbyterian Church. As a life-long Mercer County resident, Tom loved supporting his community. He enjoyed the pond, camping, and farming as well as attending auctions. His greatest joy was time spent with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years: Mary Ellen Peterson of Aledo; children: Angela (Sam) Faulkner of Joy, Brandi Peterson of Peoria, and Derek Peterson of Joy; grandchildren: Brekkon Daniels, Blazin Daniels, and Sam Faulkner, Jr.; great grandson: Braiden Daniels; and siblings: Nan (Greg) Toohey, Pat Ward, and Lonnie (Pat) Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
