Swanson Remains Opposed To Recreational Marijuana For Illinois

The Illinois General Assembly has approved recreational marijuana and Governor J.B. Pritzker will soon sign the legislation into law, but local State Rep. Dan Swanson remains opposed to the measure.

Recreational marijuana will become legal January 1 in Illinois. The law lets people 21 and over possess about an ounce of marijuana and those with a medical marijuana card could grow up to five plants at home.  It also has a justice component, expunging prior convictions for small amounts of weed and funneling some of the new revenue to poor communities.
