A New Windsor woman accused of stealing $900,000 during her time as a Rock Island County employee has pleaded not guilty in the case.
62-year-old Leisa Streeter entered a not guilty plea, waived her preliminary hearing, and requested a jury trial in Rock Island County Court on Tuesday. A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for June 27.
Streeter was arrested and charged with seven felony counts after the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police searched her home earlier this month. Streeter retired last year after working for Rock Island County as an administrative assistant in court services for 34 years. The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office says she forged documents and opened a fraudulent bank account for her personal use in 2003. Streeter is accused of funneling payments into the account and withdrawing the money to pay credit card bills, travel, transportation, and more.
Streeter was granted pre-trial release with conditions, including home detention and GPS tracking.
