Two Mercer County High School students participating in local State Senator Chuck Weaver’s youth advisory council. Max Santiago and Rebecka Larson spent a day at the state capital earlier this week along with 48 other students from 17 high schools in Weaver’s 37th State Senate District. They participated in role playing scenarios acting as lawmakers, lobbyists and media proposing legislation, debating issues and voting. Weaver says he gets as much out of the experience as the students.
The council meets in the spring and fall when lawmakers are in session.
