An Aledo man found in contempt of court last fall will stand trial again next week. 43 year old Michael Paladino asked for a continuance and made several other oral motions, which were all denied by Judge Greg Chickris Tuesday in Mercer County Circuit Court. Paladino was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail after numerous verbal exchanges with Judge Chickris during his first jury trial in late October. Paladino was standing trial on charges of obstructing justice, resisting arrest and a traffic offense of electronic communications device stemming from an August of 2018 arrest. He was arguing the court had lack of jurisdiction in his case because he claims to be a sovereign citizen. He was released from the Mercer County Jail last month. A new jury trial is scheduled for next Monday.
Paladino has also submitted a $1.4 million bill to Mercer County Circuit Court. He is calling the three-page itemized list “incarceration damages.”
