As the longest Government shutdown in history ends, a local Illinois Congressman has his eyes on January.
That’s when the next government shutdown could occur, and Rep. Eric Sorensen (D-Illinois) says he believes the next shutdown could last just as long.
Sorensen says that the current continuing resolution only lasts until January 30, at which point lawmakers would have to restart negotiations.
Sorensen’s congressional district includes eastern Mercer County.
