A child has died in an accident in rural Alexis. It happened Tuesday around noon. Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call involving a one-vehicle accident on private property. The six-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The name is being withheld pending notification of relatives. Illinois State Police were called to investigate the incident. Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by Alexis-North Henderson Ambulance and the Mercer County Coroner’s office.
