Sherrard dropped one-run games to Western Big 6 opponents in both baseball and softball Thursday.
In baseball, Sherrard (1-1) fell to Sterling (1-1-1) on the road, 3-2, in extra innings. The Golden Warriors broke a scoreless tie by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Tigers responded with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game, 2-2. Sterling walked off Sherrard with a run in the bottom of the eighth. Holland Anderson and Aidan Terronez both drove in a run in the loss.
In softball, the Tigers (1-2) lost to Rock Island (1-0), 9-8. Sherrard led 6-3 before Rock Island scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull ahead. Ava Hartman went 3-4 with 4 RBI for the Tigers in the losing effort.
