Sherrard (13-2) had an 11-game winning streak snapped in a 57-47 loss to West Hancock (12-3) at the Carl Sandburg College Shootout in Galesburg Saturday.
The Tigers scored the game’s first basket to go ahead 2-0, but that was Sherrard’s only lead of the afternoon. West Hancock led 15-4 at the end of the first quarter and 31-14 at halftime. The Titans led by as many as 24 points twice in the third quarter, 40-16 and 42-18. Sherrard closed the period on a 13-3 run to make it 45-31 going into the fourth. The Tigers cut the deficit to as little as eight in the fourth quarter but never got closer than that.
Rylan Carton scored 19 points in the loss for Sherrard.
Cooper Knowles led the Titans with 19 points. Lewis Siegfried added 15 in the victory.
