Aledo Man Facing Murder Charge Pleads Not Guilty, Waives Preliminary Hearing

A rural Aledo man facing first-degree murder charges has entered a not guilty plea in the case.

31-year-old Terrence Fetter appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Monday, where he waived a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. Fetter was arrested last month following a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department investigation into a death at a residence in rural Aledo near Matherville.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, deputies were called to the residence just after 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 following a 911 call regarding a death. Upon arrival, deputies say they located a deceased male, who was identified as 63-year-old Gregory Johnson of Aledo by Mercer County Coroner Greg Larson. Prosecutors allege Fetter “attacked and stabbed” Johnson, causing his death.

Fetter will return to court for a pretrial conference on Dec. 7. He remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail.
