Rockridge and Sherrard each won holiday tournament championships to close the first half of the 2024-25 boys basketball season Saturday.
The Rockets (11-4) repeated as champions of the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament and won their sixth title in 11 years at Western Hall with a 66-59 win over 2A No. 8 West Hancock (11-3).
Rockridge faced an early 9-5 deficit in the first quarter but trailed for just 2:36 in the game. The Rockets led by 20 points two different times in the second half.
Landon Bull had 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the win. Bull was named tournament MVP for the second straight season. Wade Richhart paced the Rockets with 17 points in the championship game. Baylen Leemans and Caleb Cunico both added 14. Cunico was an all-tournament team selection.
Hunter Froman scored a game-high 30 points for the Titans in the loss.
Sherrard (13-1) defeated East Dubuque (9-4) 51-39 to win the 2nd Annual Mike Hutchins Holiday Classic at Harry Hunt Gymnasium.
Ryder Veronda netted a game-high 16 points for the Tigers. James Blackwell added 15 and Rylan Carton scored 13 in the title game victory.
Carton and Blackwell were named to the all-tournament team.
