Rockridge (3-0) beat Rock Falls (2-1) Friday in Geneseo in a rematch of last year’s sectional semifinal, 49-45.
Rockridge held a 35-27 lead late in the third quarter until Rock Falls scored 12 unanswered points to take a 39-35 lead early in the fourth quarter.
TJ Wilson scored two go-ahead baskets for Rockridge in the final 2:30 of the game, including the game winner with 20 seconds left to break a 45-45 tie. Wilson led all scorers with 23 points, 15 of which came in the second half. Carson Klemme also was in double figures for Rockridge with 11.
Kuitim Heard scored 18 points to pace Rock Falls.
Rockridge won earlier in the day over Erie-Prophetstown, 74-44.
Sherrard (1-0) opened its 2023-24 season with a convincing 52-24 win over Deer Creek-Mackinaw (0-1) in Mackinaw Friday. Jack Hatlestad scored 11 points for the Tigers. Rylan Carton added 10 for Sherrard in the win.
Orion (3-0) got past Mercer County (2-1) Friday at the 10 & 32 Tip-Off Classic, 62-50, to advance to Saturday’s championship.
The Golden Eagles took a 27-25 lead in the second quarter, but the Chargers responded with a 17-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Maddux Arnold had 22 points for Orion to lead all scorers.
The Chargers will play Monmouth-Roseville (3-0) for the championship Satuday.
