Robert Lee was born on January 7, 1956, in Aledo, Illinois, to Robert Arthur and Druzilla “Madge” (Steele) Britton. He married Mary Cindy Harmon on June 11, 1994, in Joy.

Robert was dedicated member of the Joy community, serving the Joy Fire Department for 38 years and driving school bus since 2021. He especially enjoyed the Pre-K children. Before driving bus, Robert was an over the road truck driver for Murdoch Trucking.

In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, to stock car races, or just being outside. Robert valued growing up on the family farm and working with his father on the farm. Robert and Cindy had just started a new venture, camping, and the whole family cherished the time spent together at the campground. His animals were very important to him, especially Miss Molly, but he enjoyed them all, including Elvis and Marly. In earlier years, he was proud of the fact that, as a baseball coach for little league, he won the championship two years in a row, 1969 and 1970.

Those left to cherish Robert’s memory include his wife, Cindy; mother, Madge Britton; children and families, Melissa Sorrowfree and children, Druzilla and Keegan, Jessica and Eric Weatherly and children, Samara and Blake, Felica and Alex Adams and children, Katelyn, Daenica, and Jacoby, and Barbara and Eric Tracy and children, Robbie and Draven; a sister, Mary Adams; and nieces and nephews and families, Brandon and Brooke Adams and children, Drake and Reid, Nathan and Freda Adams and children, Griffin, Devin (Ellie), Gavin, and Lakin. Robert was preceded in death by his father and sister, Rhea Britton, on April 7, 2026.
