Ridgewood (4-0) knocked off the three-time defending 2A state champion Rockridge Rockets (2-1) in softball Friday, 6-4.
The Spartans never trailed in the game. Ridgewood opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Rockridge made it 2-1 in the bottom half of the inning. The Spartans scored two runs in the third and fourth innings, as well, and led 6-3 through four innings. The Rockets added a run in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Estellah Bognar.
Mya Brown (3-0) was the winning pitcher for Ridgewood. She allowed two earned runs in seven innings on four hits and she struck out 10 Rockridge hitters.
Kendra Lewis (2-1) took the loss for the Rockets in the pitchers circle. She gave up six runs, one earned run, in six innings on five hits. Lewis is now 65-1 for her career.
