Donors being sought for this week’s Mercer County American Red Cross blood draw. The American Red Cross has been seeking plasma donations from those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and recovered since the pandemic began. Previously, donors were put through a process involving multiple visits to donate their anti-bodies, but that is changing. Red Cross spokesman Joe Zydlo says they have a new process that will save the organization, donors, and patients a lot of time.
Plasma donations with COVID antibodies can be used to treat patients with the virus.
The next Mercer County American Red Cross blood draw is Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. You can call 800-RED-CROSS for an appointment or visit RedCrossBlood.org.
