The Alleman Pioneers advanced to the Class 2A Mercer County regional championship game with a 53-47 win over Orion Wednesday night in Aledo. The Pioneers outscored the Chargers by 12 at the free throw line to propel them to the win. Alleman lead 18-7 at the end of the first quarter and held off repeated Orion comebacks to pick up the win. Nathan Graves lead Alleman with 19. Caleb Alleb paced Orion with 18. Orion ends the season at 18-11. Alleman improved to 13-13 and will meet Rockridge, a team they beat 43-41 in December, in the championship game.
At Kewanee, Monmouth-Roseville beat Riverdale 46-38 and at Morrison Sterling Newman ran by Morrison 74-52 and Winnebago handled Fulton 58-34.
In Class 1A regional play at Henry, Annawan downed Wethersfield 67-61 and Galva upended Ridgewood 58-50.
