Patricia Ann Essig – Memorial Services 5/30/26

Patricia Ann Essig, 90 of Aledo, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, May 1, 2026, at Brookstone of Aledo. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, at St Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington, Illinois. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to St Mark’s Lutheran Church. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.

Pat was born on December 28, 1935, the daughter of Lonnie and Dorothy (Burton) Thomas. She married Glenn Essig on September 10, 1952.

Pat was a nurse for two pediatricians. Then she followed Glenn and became a real estate agent for WRC in Washington. Pat was a member of St Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Washington Rotary Club. She was active in her community. After visiting Aledo’s YMCA, she formed the committee for the Washington Area Community Center and served as its president. In 2008, Pat and Glenn received the Washingtonian Award for their service to the community.

Those left to cherish Pat’s memory include her children, Jim (Debra) Essig of Aledo and Deb (Timothy Fleming) Rich of Washington; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Gregory; sister, Shirla Joos; and brother, Lonnie Thomas.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Brookstone as well as the staff at Compassus Hospice.
