Night In A Car: Mercer County Rallies To Fight Hidden Homelessness

Mercer County Better Together is calling on the community to take part in Night in a Car on Friday, February 7th, an event designed to raise awareness and funds for those facing homelessness in the area. The initiative, structured like a walk-a-thon, encourages participants to spend the night in their car while gathering pledges from family, friends, and co-workers.

Mercer County Better Together Director Kyle McEwen was a guest on WRMJ’s Focus.

With emergency housing funds nearly depleted and many local families in crisis, this event plays a vital role in ensuring those in need receive support. Last year, $7,400 helped 20 families secure stable housing, proving that even small contributions can make a big difference.

Participants can choose from convenient locations at the Mercer County VFW in Aledo, Eliza Community Center, and Preemption United Methodist Church. Whether you’re an individual, family, or group of friends, every effort helps bring the community one step closer to ensuring safe housing for all.
